Rambles 2015

FRIDAY 26TH JUNE 2015

SPUD, ERNEST & ORLA, MATTHEW & ROBIN, ANDREW, JEAN, PHILLIP AND PHYLLIS

THE GROUP MET AT CONGRESBURY, USING BUSES. THE RAMBLE BEGAN AT THE SHIP AND CASTLE AND CONTINUED OVER THE FIELDS TO THE CENTRE OF WRINGTON. LUNCH WAS EATEN IN THE LOCAL PARK. THE RAIN CAME DOWN HEAVILY AND AS ANDREW DID NOT HAVE A COAT A DECISION WAS MADE TO CATCH THE A2 BUS TO WESTON.

WALKED THREE MILES IN TOTAL.

FRIDAY 27TH MARCH 2015

AILEEN, SPUD, JEAN, ANDY AND BARNY (THE DOG)

WE CAUGHT THE 09.45 X5 TO PORTISHEAD, JEAN JOINING THE BUS AT CLEVEDON. MET ANDY AND BARNY AT COMBE ROAD BUS STOP. AFTER WAITING 10 MINUTES WE CAUGHT THE X3 TO BRISTOL, ALIGHTING AT A REMOTE BUS STOP ON SHEEPWAY. WE WALKED ALONG THE ROAD FOR A WHILE BEFORE TURNING INTO WHARF ROAD AND JOINING THE FOOTPATH AROUND THE NATURE RESERVE. MOSTLY DRY UNDERFOOT WITH A FEW PARTS QUITE MUDDY WHERE THE HORSES HAD BEEN RIDING. WE CONTINUED ON TOWARDS THE MARINA WALKING ALONGSIDE SOME LARGE PONDS. STOPPED FOR LUNCH AT THE ROYAL INN OVERLOOKING THE RIVER SEVERN. DEPARTED THE INN AT APPROX. 3PM, STROLLING ALONG THE LENGTH OF THE MARINA ARRIVING AT COMBE ROAD IN TIME TO CATCH THE 3.40 PM X5 BACK TO WESTON VIA. CLEVEDON.

IT WAS A WARM AND SUNNY DAY. WALKED FIVE MILES.

FRIDAY 30TH JANUARY 2015

CONGRESBURY TO THE STAR INN, RHODYATE, 7½ MILES MATTHEW, ANN, ANDY, ANDREW, ERNEST AND ORLA, AILEEN, SPUD AND JEAN. WE CAUGHT THE 9.50 AM X1 BUS FROM WESTON SEA FRONT TO CONGRESBURY, WHERE WE MET UP WITH ANDY AND JEAN WHO HAD TRAVELLED TO MEET US ABOARD THE X5 FROM PORTISHEAD AND CLEVEDON RESPECTIVELY. WE BEGAN OUR RAMBLE ON THE BRISTOL SIDE OF THE ROAD BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER YEO AT CONGRESBURY. UNDERFOOT WAS MUDDY IN PLACES BUT THE WEATHER WAS A VERY PLEASANT 20 DEGREES CENTIGRADE WITH A SLIGHT BREEZE, PERFECT FOR WALKING. WE EVENTUALLY JOINED THE RAILWAY PATH HEADING TOWARDS YATTON STATION WHERE WE USED THEIR FACILITIES. A SHORT WALK ALONG THE FOOTPATH AT YATTON BEFORE JOINING THE PUBLIC FOOTPATH HEADING TOWARDS CLAVERHAM AND EVENTUALLY THE STAR INN AT RHODYATE. LUNCH WAS A VERY WELCOME BREAK BEFORE WALKING DOWN THE HILL ON THE VERY BUSY A370 TO THE BUS STOPS AT CONGRESBURY FOR THE JOURNEY HOME.
